HSA tax benefits (For S532BCE PPO Plan)

Here are the 3 tax advantages HSAs offer:*

  • Contributing: Any post-tax money you contribute to an HSA is tax-deductible, up to the IRS limit. If payroll deduction is an option for you, those contributions are usually pre-tax.  (Your employer is not sponsoring an HSA group account that funds with pretax contributions, so employees may deduct their post tax contributions when filing federal taxes..  Open an HSA account at your local bank, fund account, and receive a debit card to pay for all medically qualified expenses)

  • Spending: Using your HSA money to pay for qualified medical expenses is always free from federal income taxes.

Employees may elect Dental and/or Vision coverage.  Group plans are largely discounted  and most often have better benefits than individual policies.  In addition, premiums are deducted pretax from pay, lowering gross pay and taxes.

Dental plan is a 'Passive PPO.'  Benefits are the same in or out of network.  Delta reimburses dentists a MAC (Maximum Allowable Charge).  Most dentists will accept this reimbursement, but is a good idea to ask a non network dental office to verify what Delta will pay before dental procedures.  Non network dental offices may balance bill member if they charge over the MAC.
